My youngest received a new dollhouse for Christmas. She is in love with it! I must admit, it is pretty cool! It is taller than her (and me for that matter). To have a dollhouse like that as a kid would have been pretty amazing! I don’t think I would have came out of my room! Furniture and some additional accessories, including lamps, came with the dollhouse, however, I thought it would be fun to create some additional lamps for her house!
When we were coming up with ideas on how to make our own, I looked at different items we already had around the house. I got my husband involved as well because I was having a hard time trying to figure out what would work for the base. We needed something that was heavier then the top but yet not too bulky and heavy.
We ended up deciding on making the lamp shade out of empty k-cups. I emptied some old ones we had had left in the pantry. They were some odd flavor that that we didn’t like, You could also reuse your k-cups after you’ve used them. Rinse them out thoroughly and then dry them.
You can use bling or any type of other stocks to decorate the lamp shade. It’s totally up to you!
To make the DIY Dollhouse Lamp, you will need the following:
Hot glue gun
Rinse out and dry your k-cups. Then from the bottom of the k-cup, measure 3/4 inches from the top and make a mark.
With your scissors, carefully start cutting the k-cup. Slowly cut the line to the 3/4 inch mark that you made and cut around the k-cup.
Then use a piece of sandpaper and sand the bottom of the k-cup so there are no sharp edges.
Measure 3/8″ from the edge of the cork. Using a very sharp knife, slice through the cork.
Start to assembly the dollhouse lamp.
Push the corsage pin through a small bead then push it through the bottom of the k-cup.
Add a couple of more beads.
Then use a dab of hot glue and glue on a larger bead.
Then hot glue that piece to the cork. Hold in place for about a minute.
Add on the stickers and there you go!
A super easy and quick DIY project! The kids can even help you too! Just don’t let them use the knife or the hot glue gun. The great thing about this lamp is that you can totally customize it however you want! I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to beads! I love them! This is just one way to use them!
Have you made any dollhouse furniture before? What type did you make?
Make sure to pin this now so you have it for later!
