Unicorns are all the rage right now. I have to admit I am a fan of them too. There is just something about the colors and glitter! That is why with the rage behind unicorns plus DIY bath products, I knew I had to make bath salts!
I admit I don’t take long baths like I used to. When we bought our new home, we decided to just have a bigger shower in lieu of a tub. In our kids bathroom, they have a tub/shower combo. But for us, no tub. I really wish we had one! However, then I ask myself when would I have the time? Yes the idea of just sitting around soaking in a warm tub sounds amazingly perfect, but I know me and my luck. Either there would be a delivery, the dogs will start barking, the kids will have a fight, my husband will have a question, or the phone will ring. So it’s better off that I don’t.
One thing I have learned though is that I can still enjoy the bath bombs as well as the bath salts. You can put the bath bombs that contain essential oils in the bottom of your shower. You still get the aroma. I also will then work a small part of the bath fizzie into a wash cloth so I can rub it on my skin. That way I still get the affect.
The great thing about making bath salts is that you will probably have the ingredients on hand if you have made bath bombs! This is also one of the reasons I decided I needed to make my own. That way I can justify spending more money on the supplies needed! LOL!
The difference in this recipe, unlike the one for the Unicorn Bath Bombs is that it contains Epsom salt. Epsom salt has been around forever. I can remember my parents buying it. It was/is so useful in so many ways.
A fun idea or use for the Unicorn Bath Salts would be to use them as a party favor for a baby shower or a sprinkle shower! You could make the bath salts up into cute containers, attach our printable plus some ribbon and a spoon. Another idea would be to use them as a party favor for a wedding shower! Or just make up a big batch for yourself. No judgement here! We are a judgement free zone!

Here are the instructions to make your very own Unicorn Bath Salts:
Ingredients:
1 cup baking soda
1 cup Epsom salt
1/2 cup citric acid
3 tbsp. fractionated oil
Essential oils (optional and you can choose your own)
Fragrance oils (optional and you can choose your own)
Gel food coloring
Supplies:
Large mixing bowl
Four small bowls
Whisk
Measuring cups
Glass container (you can buy one or reuse one you already have)
Cute bamboo spoon so you can sprinkle your bath salts
*May I suggest something along the line of this:
Ribbon
Tape/Glue for attaching the Unicorn label
Hole punch if you attach the label with ribbon to your jar.
Directions:
In a large bowl, add in the dry ingredients of baking soda, epsom salt, citric acid, and cornstarch.
After you have mixed those together thoroughly, add in the fractionated coconut oil, and the essential and fragrance oils if you prefer.
Slowly incorporate those ingredients together.
Separate the ingredients into four small bowls. We put 1/4 cup of the mixture into each bowl.
Add the gel food coloring into each bowl. Word of caution: since gel food coloring is a lot more concentrated, add the gel one drop at a time.
Carefully add the colorful bath salts into the glass container. Stack the colors however you wish, but we put it together in the simple ROYGBP color wheel and adjusted it for Unicorn colors.
Add on our free printable Unicorn Bath Salts label, some cute ribbon if you choose and the recipe is complete!
